Meditation can be defined as the training of the mind to induce a mode of consciousness to create some benefit or for the mind to simply acknowledge its content without becoming identified with that content.

Adult Learners week is a festival of learning and national celebration of life-long learning with ‘have a go’ learning events taking place in May and June every year. Fortunately, enough a martial arts and self-defence instructor was required to run a 3 hr workshop and seminar at the Peabody Trust in South London on Saturday 22/05/04.

The Outdoor session took place at Finsbury Park on Saturday the 30th September from 11am to 12.15pm. We had 6 people attend (edited image above) who were a small group of friends who stumbled across my website. They were all from the Manor Park N4 Area in close proximity to Finsbury Park.

The second premium model covered under evaluation and awareness is the OODA Loop. The OODA Loop is an acronym used to describe the process that we use when responding to some type of stimulus, and was formulated by Col John Boyd in the 1950’s. Boyd was a fighter pilot in the Korean war and used the OODA Loop to train pilots under him. The training resulted in a 10:1 kill ratio. Col. Boyd believed that even at a disadvantage, a competent pilot could overcome his opponent by attacking the mental process or state of mind. The OODA Loop stands for Observe, Orient, Decide and Act

Traditional pushups are beneficial for building upper body strength. They work the triceps, pectoral muscles, and shoulders. When done with proper form, they can also strengthen the lower back and core by engaging (pulling in) the abdominal muscles. Pushups are a fast and effective exercise for building strength.

Squats Help Build Muscle. They don't just help you achieve wonderful, toned legs; they promote body-wide muscle building by creating an anabolic (muscle building) environment in the body. They work up your quadriceps, hamstrings, calves, abdominal muscles, lower back and your butt too.

Due to the success of the last Self Defence Seminar run at the Peabody Trust for the last Adult Learners Week in 2004, a second 3hr course was organised by the LSBU Academy Of Sport. The event was planned and booked 2 to 3 months in advance by a senior sports coordinator, with the recruitment of a sports ambassador. This was a free ‘unpaid event’ advertised and marketed around South London including Peackam, Elephant & Castle, and Bermonsdey.

The street wise self-defence seminar was one of four seminars to be delivered by a collaboration of the now Eclectic Self Protection (ESP) and Tactical Protection Systems (TPS).
