HARINGEY FAMILY BESPOKE 2 DAY SELF DEFENCE COURSE 2020 (ESPA)

After both seeing a advert of my club and my online website with a wealth of 5 star reviews, a family based in Haringey North London contacted me to arrange a family bespoke 2 day self defence course. We had 2 adults (parents), a son and a daughter.
The 2 day self defence course was completely personalised to what my clients wanted in relation to self defence and personal security training, fitness, confidence, self assurance, positive encouragement, stranger danger and bullying prevention.
Session 1
The first session was a introduction to actually training in Eclectic Self Protection with beginners techniques for preparation of further sessions.
As with all of our sessions, we warmed up for 12 minutes to get the blood circulating and heat the muscles followed by dynamic static stretches of eclecticism.
1st we looked at basic punching and kickboxing combinations for personal defence including the jab/reverse, hook, slap, front snap kick and thai kicks with details of sports science and the benefits of using them given the situation you are based in.
2nd we drilled a selection of these techniques in consecutive and sequential action off 'basic fences of eclecticism' against pads and focus mitts using interception and dialogue via 'a window of entry'.
3rd we looked at eclectic verbal power talking and dialogue in conjunction with 2 variations of pushing with correct foot work and body action against thai pads. Once the students were comfortable and familiar with the techniques we drilled the same actions followed up with explosive front snap kicks and exit and evasion principles.
4th we focused on breakaway techniques for personal defence that could be used dynamically and eclectically with natural body movement. The ESPA Coach taught 4 wrist grab breaks, and a longer section on 2 choke defences using deception and surprise.
Throughout the training session lots of references were made in relation to childrens and young adult self defence and how to react against bullying from school peers, and difficult types of situations that they could find themselves in.
Following this ESPA coach gave a brief talk on self awareness, understanding the environment you are in as well as some key facts in relation to reasonable force.
The session concluded with breathing and stress release exercises for self esteem and positive enhancement.
Session 2
After the introductory warm up we kicked straight off into a session beginning with striking techniques with a slight advancement of the first session. We looked at knife hand spearing, and simultaneous strikes with deflective positions, and the upwards knee strike for fast, effective and dynamic self defence using balanced movement against pads.
Given that the family wanted personalised self defence against a variety of attacks we spent more time on it in this session.
The ESPA coach gave an indepth demonstration on how to execute a pre-emptive wrist lock, using the fence and verbal diffusion, to a confrontation of abuse, aggressive body language and other physical traits. These exercises were done with respect and self control, and subject to tap. Lots of coaching details were made on attachments, wrist pressure and body mechanics.
In addition, ESPA coach taught 2 choke defences from the left and right using eclectic strikes and natural abstract body movement.
As an interval between physical training, ESPA coach made an explanation on how children and young adults should react to name calling, bullying, and the use of their schools anti-bullying policy, before progressing onto physical tools if all other efforts have been made.
The last part of the session looked at 2 variations of eclectic striking attacks that are user friendly for both children and adults. ESPA coach taught the twin scissor knife hand strike, and double fore-fist strike with emphasis on a diagonal plane of motion, instant positive reaction and natural advantageous body movement. In most of these cases, these were drilled off fences, against pads using the full length of the garden.
The session concluded with a cool down, developmental stretching and martial arts based meditation.
